Will they be doing the America the Beautiful Series the same way? I have been unable to find squat this year marked with 2009 and I would like to do better next year!

Doesn't this do more harm then good? Who wants to buys coins and have them show up as cash advances? When you take a cash advance on a credit card, they charge you daily interest from the day you take out money, until the day you pay it off. Once customers get smacked with interest payments, I highly doubt they will ever shop at the U.S. mint again. I know I wouldn't.

Why don't they do something like charging the household limit, and charge shipping for every item above the limit? There must be an easier way of doing this... It sounds like the credit card companies have twisted the U.S. mint's arm into doing this.

At the rate things are going, the Mint should directly sell rolls of all of their business strike coins.

For example:
All of the 2009-D Nickels are (apparently) still sitting in the Federal Reserve.

Why not wrap them all up and sell them for $3 or $4 a roll on the Mint's website?

The Mint would make a nice profit and collectors would get the coins.

Yeah, I know, this idea makes too much sense !

The Mint could also set up to take Paypal for the Dollar coins...
(there I go making too much sense again!)

I like your thinking, DNA!

I might not pay $8.95 for a roll of cents, but I can see myself (contemplating at least) buying a roll of nickels for three or four dollars.

JB.... I might not pay $8.95 for a roll of cents.....

That was $8.95 for TWO rolls of Cents....... not just one ! .... And "I" did pay it..... (plus shipping and handling) ... ... four different times throughout this year....

It appears that my "coin wisdom" and my "sense" for "Cents" is still an ever evolving process mired in it's infancy, that I'm reminded of quite frequently !!

What's that over there ? ......... Excuse me...... I see a shiny object over there distracting me ....maybe I can go buy it.....

The article pasted above states,

Quote:
As a final method of preventing abuses of the program, the US Mint has also changed the way that purchases through the program are recognized by credit card processors. According to this article from the LA Times, the purchases are now recorded as cash advances, which typically do not earn rewards.

They are citing this LA Times article:

Okay, I will correct myself... I would not pay $4.48 (plus shipping) for a roll of cents, but I might pay $4.00 for a roll of nickels.

For the record, I might have paid $4 (shipped) for the pair of cent rolls.

I thought $8.95 was 'too much' for the Mint-Wrapped LP1 Cents, so I bought only one Set. I was hoping that they'd be 95% Copper, for that price.

I've seen the LP1 Mint Roll boxes go for up to $100 on ebay...

Does the mint accept a debit card? That way its just coming from your checking account and not being charged to a credit card.

Yes, they will accept bank debit cards as long as it is a Visa debit or something similar. I do not believe that they accept PIN-only debit cards.

I sometimes us a debit card when purchasing through the mint. Mine is a Visa Debit Card. I never had a problem using it to order through the mint.
