I was at RCM Ottawa yesterday and the boutique is still selling zinc 2010 1¢. I left a message for their Director of Communications (who is away for a few days).

Hopefully by the end of this week I'll have a definitive Yes or No to these questions, i.e. have they produced ANY steel cents in 2010 for circulation and/or are they planning any steel cent 2010 production (which depends on the cost of zinc).

Meanwhile I purchased a roll of 1910-2010 Sask RR loonies for $26.25 with the $1.25 service charge, handed over $30, and in my change I got a nice MS 2010 toonie, another 2010 Sask RR loonie, and 3 fresh 1918-2008 Armistice poppy quarters! I just love RCM cash register change.

For the record, I received 5 2010 L pennies in change today, all NON-mag.

Am interested in hearing what you find out from the mint too

I just phoned and got an update from RCM-Ottawa about this, the communications director checked with his circulation coin production staff and was told there are no plans to switch 2010 Canada cent production back to steel core planchets. So the only 2010 plated steel (magnetic) cents are to be found in PL sets.

They must have gotten a wicked deal on the zinc core blanks.

After a small roll-hunt, I found no steel 2010s, confirming what malibu said.
So now I'm off to buy a mint set... grrr!

Working on my 7th box of pennies so far,it is easier to find world coins than a magnetic 2010 a circulated magnetic 1 cent.

Yeah... I'm pretty cheap, but I give up on finding these in change/rolls! I'm going to buy my mint set today. Got it! At least I get the 50 cent coin and elusuve 2010 toonie too!
