Thad, that is beautiful. I find those late decade 1980's to be very poor in general. mushy dies, dirty planchets, weak strikes all make it hard to find descent examples. You have definitely found the exception to the rule. Jim

Will you be sending this one out to be graded?

Indeed Jim, the 80's Zincolns are generally horrible. I was actually more excited to find this coin than my MS-65 1999 WAM. Based on my experience, finding a conditional rarity coin like this is more difficult than finding a variety or error.

Not even in a roll! It was in my friends 25 year old change stash with about 20,000 other Lincolns.

I'm not a huge fan of memorial cents, but I have to say that one is the best I've ever seen. That tone is great!

A VERY strong coin. As others have mentioned the 1980's were not that great as a general rule and even as the mints efforts got better as the decade progressed it was not often a coin of this caliber was produced. Spend the 5 cents and put it in a 2 x 2. I know I would. Great find! Sincerely, John Leckrone

Quote: What would you grade it at? The luster is insane, looks like a proof. A lot of weight is given to luster on the Memorial cents. I'd be mad if a TGP didn't give it at least a 66, but I'm calling it a 67 with a star designation.
