Cool design on these quarters, can you buy a few more for members?

If they do anything special I would like one as well? Perhaps something that says COLORADO OFFICIAL RELEASE? Keep us posted! If it is anything like Indiana you had better be first in line as the ebay hoarders will be there for one reason and only one reason! Good luck Gary!

Gary,

That does sound exciting! It's good to have friends in high places. We'll be waiting to see the pictures.

I think I posted somewhere else that I planned on buying an extra couple rolls should members be interested.

Terry has a good point, and I was already warned about the hoarders to expect. Hopefully I'll have the sales area scoped out and ready to move in there when the ceremonies are over.

Gary you will have to do just like my son and I did here at Indianapolis Motor Speedway----GET IN LINE BEFORE THE CEREMONY HAS ENDED!!! Paid off for us when you consider a special "500" slabbed and serial numbered set! They sold out in minutes!!!

Luckily, I'll have Pat (Mountain Lady) with me, and she can head for the sales area before the ceremony is over. The problem I could encounter is if the sales are held at the mint. The mint is about half a mile from the Capitol Building, and it's hard to say where we would be in the line by the time we get there.

Anyway, we'll be involved in the scramble, and Mountain Lady isn't shy, so hopefully we will get to buy the special stuff before it sells out.

Gary, you have a once-in-a-lifetime experience ahead of you. It's not often that any state has the opportunity to showcase itself through a numismatic release (for most, it's just once). Even if you aren't first in line to buy first strike Colorado quarters and can't purchase as many as you would like, enjoy this historical occasion for its own worth.

It's a good thing your going to Denver and not waiting at home for the stage coach to round the bend in the road. The Governor is going to hand out coins to the kids that are in attendance and you may want to wear short pants and get in line.
As for first strike, well it would have to be one of those quarters they already have struck about three weeks ago to be in that catagory. Good luck and don't get lost in the big city.

Fred:

You are certainly correct. As a former history teacher, I sure appreciate the historical significance, and look forward to it.

Old Dan:

It's always interesting to visit the big city, however I always feel better when I hit I-70 and head west.

Just heard from my state representative, who is a friend, and he suggests to get there early. So, by about 10 a.m. next Wednesday I expect to be sitting on the Capitol steps.

It sounds like it will be a great experience Gary, enjoy. And if you do get a few more coins to sell to members of the forum this is one Aussie collector willing to buy or trade from you.
