and is it even worth attempting? I hear the finds are far and slim...

That part.....well.......the majority of "roll searchers" DO NOT like doing Dimes. If you have good eye sight going in.....you won't when your done with a box of Dimes ! ....
There are certainly a few who find the occasional Silver Dime (or other abnormality !)....but it isn't often enough to warrant the great effort, time, and energy in pursuing those. The "rewards" need to be a little more often for most of us to "keep at it", and most don't get that "reward" from doing Dimes.

@biokemist6 Those were my answers too!

As for my answer to the original question in this thread...

It's $500.00 for a box of dimes where I come from. I don't think I've ever seen a $250 box. I get the majority of my cent boxes from BofA, and all I've ever seen are $500 boxes of dimes there.

I've searched dimes for 3 years now. Halves don't cut it here, a waste of time and $. Never going to be a shortage of dimes. My average is 1 silver per $125 searched. This includes hand-rolled. I've searched 25 boxes this year, so far 1 skunker. I only search em 3 mos out ouf the year, and get about 15 mercs and older Canadians too. Hope this helps.
