If I ever bought that thing, I would be forced to try and spend it somewhere. Could you imagine? The cashier says, "That'll be $56.88, please," and you drop this huge chunk of gold on the counter with a tremendous metallic GONGGGGGGGGG.

Speaking strictly from a decorators point of veiw, if you slapped some legs on that baby it would make a lovely end table for Donald Trump's home. Goes with the solid gold commode.

I think I would have to send it to PCGS or NGC and ask them to slab it for me

A face value of 100,000 Euros, and it's going at well over 500,000 dollars currently. you'll need some deep pockets to get your hands on that coin to slab...lol.

I don't think Bill Gates can afford to get it slabed because of it's great and thick size

Heh. Collector's Universe (the parent company of PCGS), has a market cap of some $134 million. Bill Gates could buy the whole company from his grocery account, and force them to build a slab big enough.

Now if Bill Gates really wanted to give PCGS a hard time, he could buy the company, buy the coins, and tell them to slab them, just like SuperDave said. Now that doesn't really mean that he'd want to blow his money on coins, when he could be spending that money renovating his mansion.

I have to admit Bill Gates is a very rich man and he gives alot of money to some very good charities but the large amount he gives is like someone like me giving 100.00 even though his contribution has a few more zero's than mine we would both miss the money about the same

The money you are speaking of was called Yap money- and these were stone that came from an island several miles away as there were no stones on the Island where this money was treasured. I think this was in Ripley's believe it or not several years ago- But who needs stone? well, to each his own. Like one member said, this thing is not a coin, a coin is something you hold in your hand. -Dewey

FYI is correct, the largest "coin" were large stone coins that are the size of a whole wall section.

Though Bill gates would probably use the Gold Piece and hang it next to his computer.
