On top of that you have a 35-S there which is a better date coin in the series....1,964,000 mintage. Compare that to 1923 30,800,000 mintage.

Lafaa, if I recall when you first came to this website a lot of generous members gifted you several items when you were starting off your collection. If I were you I would wait for the same situation and give it to a kid on this forum that shows the same interest as when you started.

Maybe do a traveling Peace dollar thing.. Members give you their address You make a list with the names and addresses. You take a picture of yourself with the coin and add it to the package. Send it out to the first name. Each person that gets it will have to take a picture with their kids and the coin, add it to the package, and mail it back out within a week. Put your name and address last on the list. When you get it back you will be able to see all of the people (kids)that you shared your coin with, but you get to have it back when you are done.

I would keep it if I were you. It nice to be generous but that Peace dollar is part of your collection. It should stay with you. On top of that like Mint Marq said, it's a better date coin. Just my 2cents.

Indeed ..... you are confusing me Laffa .... In some posts you represent yourself as a kid with no money ..... and now you are trying to figure out a way to give away a valuable coin? Here is what I say ..... First ...... we all appreciate your attempt at being generous .... but do not give this away in a random method where it might end up in anybody's pocket. Second .... put the coin aside and acquire some other things (age, income and coin wisdom amongst them) ..... then you will be in a much better position to give things away. My Two Cents worth FWIW David

My Two Cents worth FWIW David There is no good reason for you to give the coin away, especially if it was the coin Jokingjoker gave you as a gift.....

Quote: not if I set it in a holder and put it on a table in the park.......... and no, I'm not putting a 7070 together...... What makes you think a kid would find it? If I saw a Peace dollar laying on a picnic table and I was sure it didn't belong to anyone in the park I'd grab it in a second! You know how sometimes an idea sounds better in your head than when you actually do it? I think this is one of those times.

Start small, put some older cents in some of those take-a-penny dishes.

I have coins of some series that I do not collect but since they were given to me by fellow forum members they have a permanent area in my collection. I will sell a coin from a series I do collect before I get rid of anything that was given to me because it means they thought enough of me to send it in the first place so its special to me. I would hope everyone felt the same way but I know they don't because I have seen 2 of the coins I have sent some forum members either on here for sale or sold on ebay. it really ticks me off but its theirs but if I had known they would try to make a profit off something I purchased and just gave to them trying to help them out with their collection I would have never given it to them in the first place because I could have sold it myself

If you want to start some REAL fun: leave it as a 'tip'! You will create some excitement. You should have seen the face of the young waitress after we left a 1923 $1.00 SC as a tip recently... which leads OT to this: find a junky uncut sheet of Ones, and accordion a column of the notes, then leave that for a tip. It's a definite YouTube moment when he/she thinks that you left a lousy tip, until the notes unfold...
