Moe, was the a+b+c+d=22 referring to the digits in the year? 1+9+6+6=22?

And finally, since all the other clues were solved; the picture of the uncut gem is one of Tanzanite, a purplish gemstone (after it's heat-treated).
Supposedly, Tanzanite is only found on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, in the country of Tanzania.
