Quote: I'd happily give you a link to silver coin melt values for North America but last time I provided that link I got censored. Let's see what the mods have to say. There's a reason why we suppress certain links, and it has nothing to do with you personally. Some sites generate undesirable popups or have NSFW ads. Others advertise or engage in questionable business practices. Some are run by people who have spammed CCF, or engaged in conduct here or elsewhere that we find inappropriate for the family atmosphere we enforce. It's not subjective. A link we do not allow has earned that status.

Understood. Is there a list of banned links I can access?

Quote: Is there a list of banned links I can access? That's a good question. Although that decision is above my pay grade, I'm pretty sure the answer would be "no." Remember, some of the sites on the list are simply unsafe (virus/malware) for your computer to navigate, and to release the list would sorta negate the protection we're trying to provide.

Now half an ounce of 90% silver would go like this. OzT(weight)*Fineness*Price 0.5*0.9*17.97

ahhh, yes, forgot about the troy ounce. I would have to get the weight in troy ounces instead of regular ounces. I jsut bought 8.7 ounces of silver coins on ebay the other day and wated to see what the melt value actually was.

so 8.7 ounces would be 7.92968 troy ounces. So it would be 7.92968 x18.08 x .9 = $129.03

Quote: Is there a list of banned links I can access? There is not a published list, but the answer is really simple: Post a link; if you see it removed, then understand that there is a good reason and move on. Write the link down if you want to keep your own list as a reminder. I must stress that the censored links are nothing personal against the poster. Since there is no list, there is no way to know until you try! Just remember: when it happens, understand that it is not your fault and move on.

I also want to add there are many other sites on the web with the same information that is not on the banned list and every one I have seen people post that did get removed there has been another site that was even better than the one they were trying to post. As other moderators have said there is some reason the site has been added to the banned list and it wasn't done to inconvenience anyone it was a judgment call by the administrator of the site and done for what they considered a good reason

to summarize what the mods are saying, seems like anything done in here is for our own good and no one should take offense to it.

If you google "melt value of US coins' it will show you a few websites that update daily as to the spot prices.

Some of the problems with determining the value of Silver coins for Silver value is most people do not take into account wear. Some coins have substantial wear and are worth much less than what people think. Next is who buys Silver for Silver prices? You could say it's $17/ounce but if you can only get $14/ounce, then all the math is just math.
