That coin is perfect proof of why we say a nice AU trumps a lower Mint State coin in eye appeal.

Very Nice. Is that for a type set by chance?

Once upon a time when I had more discretionary income, I owned a few Seated dollars in the VF to AU range. It's a very challenging series, and you found a nice one.

Very nice. I've bought several coins from that seller, TNFC, and have been pleased with all of them.

For those unfamiliar with TNFC, they have an awesome website I'll link.

Their prices can be a touch high but the quality of the coins for sale is usually outstanding.

I have viewed that coin many many times, and have always liked it. If I was willing to spend that much on a Seated dollar, I would have purchased it. Congratulations! And please let us know what it looks like in hand!

I have purchased several from them too. Although they are often high, there are many hidden jewel coins that are exceptional for the assigned grade that aren't priced any higher than the rest. Those are the ones to look for, and I think the one shadow selected falls into that category.

Yeah Johnny, that was basically the idea here. I think their prices are quite high in general, and this coin may be worth "on paper" $950 or something due to being in an ANACS slab instead of PCGS, but putting that aside I think its much nicer than others plus I don't really care about the slab when I'm buying for type. I'm surprised it stayed up so long though, haven't seen one for that price quite as nice in awhile.

Yeah, I'm pretty jealous because this is the last one I would need to complete my 7070....and this one is nicer than what I will probably end up with..lol.

LOL. I've been in that store.... overpriced is an understatement. But they were nice and put up with my ramblings.

Strong price, but it's a strong coin - sharp feathers in comparison to the stars. So many of these upper grade Seated dollars have been dipped and scrubbed. Yours is a far more desireable example than most I've seen over the years.
