Nice Set! I'm completing the business strike from circulation but might just add the proofs now that I've seen yours.

question about the proofs
I have found a few in circulation and was wondering their composition
is it the same as the regular P and D general circulation nickels or are they a silver coin
or could it be either like I know the dimes and quarters and halves can be?
if they can be either is the weight different so I could weigh them and see what I have?
I think those are all my questions BTW the westward journey proofs look cool someone spent them at my work one day, I gladly accepted hahaha gotta love stoners buying blunts wraps with silver and proof coins, happens a ton at my work

Congratulations, those are some beautiful proofs you have amass. I am a Jefferson proof collector as well. The holes in my collection are of the early 50's the prices seem to get a little steep. Holding out on a steal on ebay!

Congrats on the quest. I went through this last year with my proofs and did write similar posts in the forum last year about my newest acquisitions. I ended up finding some doubled die proofs and cherry picked both my 1942 proofs as business strikes.
I am glad there are other Jefferson enthusiasts here in CCF land.

Wow! Great Coins! I LOVE Jefferson proofs. The hidden gems.

Are you ripping them out of the slabs to put in the album?

Gosh and this is just my 2 cents. For the 1950 and 1951 - if you buy a pr68 or even a pr67 slab - I would strongly recommend keeping them in the slabs.

I know, I know. There are all sorts of slings and arrows in my back now.

My day job is Customer Service so I think Teflon has already been installed on my beeee-hind!!

My point is that for the 50 and 51, the slab AND the grade becomes really important for the value.

Just my Proof 5 cents!

Wheezie,

I'm in the top 20 of NGC Registry Jeffie Proofs (1950-1964) and I haven't even worked up a sweat yet.....

So there are other Jefferson FANATICS!

You definitely have competition for those juicy Jefferson "For Sale" items that get posted here. I will just say that I've had to replace my keyboard twice.

JPRINE - not hijacking your thread!

Those are beautiful coins and maybe someone else will chime in - but I'd keep the early ones slabbed.....

Well, you know how I feel about slabs.

But it is his coin, his decision.

Although I hope to see it join his friends in the album.

Geepers ..... that 1952 Proof is stunning!

I would have a difficult decision to break it out and place in the album ..... but to each their own I say.

Many Thanks for sharing.
