on the barber, the liberty is still present and complete, I surprised by that. the reverses, on the halves and dollars are almost completely black, almost looks like they were colored in with sharpie. the reverses on the dimes, for most part is almost completely free of the black. Here's a pic of the barber, liberty still legible, and the unfortunate reverse.

and here's the evil cardboard culprit. you can see the hole filler for the nickel and Barber quarter still in place. I think there was a Standing Liberty quarter at some time, but it probably had fallen out. when he showed me the set, a few coins were loose and scattered under the glass. he said he knew he could probably get more, but didn't want the hassle of dealing with ebay and having to list each coin individually, since he didn't know enough about them. he was happy when he found out I was an actual collector and not just some guy who was gonna melt em all down or turn around and flip em on ebay for a quick profit.

I'll be wanting to see closer shots of the Morgan and Peace dollars, of course. The Morgan looks to have some very nice album toning. Perhaps what some would consider "artificial," but pleasing all the same.

I picked up some mint sets for a great price. Just had to convince the guy to ship them to me, it worked out fine.

I actually really like that Peace dollar. The morgan is cool too. Let me know if you plan on re-selling them.

That's an interesting "frame" picture....I can't say I've ever seen one like that. It does look different from the kind you buy complete with coins.
Ugly reverse or not I'd be interested in the Barber half if you decide to sell/trade. It's got the level of detail I'm looking for & I can overlook the toning if the price is right.

Quote:... I was an actual collector and not just some guy who was gonna melt em all down or turn around and flip em on ebay for a quick profit. Very nice! I like it when collectors can find deals like this and the seller is happy wiht the transaction as well.

i may consider trading, but not at the moment. I've also never sold coins, until recently when I sold off a few NIFC kennedy's I pulled from circ. trades are definitely possible, i'll be sure to post if I decide to open them up for that.

Be sure to keep in mind those of us that hollered first if you decide you want to trade.......this place seems to be full of people that manage to jump on a deal seconds before I can......

Good haul - I'll have to add Craigslist as a place to check for good deals.
