I saw this on the CU forum, and almost commented there even though I rarely do. To be honest with you, this has got to be one of THE most attractive $3 gold coins I've ever seen, maybe even the most attractive gold coin. It is FLAT out jaw dropping! I love the orange gold look, and this one has that in spades, as well as being a tough date. Major congrats to you! What does it grade? I'd guess AU-53 and give it a +, a * and a CAC!

Johnny, at whatever point in my life I decide to sell coins, especially this one, I'll have to hire you to do auction descriptions! Thanks. I do think this coin is special, too. And, you're dead on with the grade from PCGS.

Neither are the same. But I'll say that first one is actually nicer than mine in grade and strike. I like mine better than that second one though.

Hello I'm new to this site and not sure if I'm in the right category or not. I was needing some advise on some coins. I work at a bank and a college girl came in and wanted to exchange coins for dollars. She bought in 100 1839 sitting liberty silver dollar coins all in "minty" condition in my opinion. Does anyone know where I can get info on these or an expert to check them out? I thank you for any help...

Welcome to the forums Bally! You need to start your own topic about this, but I can virtually guarantee you that they are all fake. Please post pics though!

I doubt these are authentic. Circulating mintage of the Seated dollar did not begin until 1840. Coins dated 1839 were "proof" issues and the total mintage for that year was 300. If you have 1/3 of this mintage in "minty" condition" I find that inconceivable. More than likely these are reproductions/counterfeits. Still, exchanging these at face value may pay off as they usually sell as novelties for more than that amount. Exchanging them on the banks behalf would not be wise or legal. One additional note: The Hobby Protection Act requires these to be counter stamped "copy or replica".

Oops ... my bad! Awesome Princess Bruce!
