It was probably a stolen collection. Unfortunately.

Yea, or someone passed away and it got sold. But at least they were obtained in good conscience.

Nice score!

my mom got a roll of silver dimes and a roll of silver quarters a few years ago when she worked at a bank. She said that his wife died and he needed money. so I now have a few rolls.

While we collectors may drive some of these bank tellers insane with our buying and dumping habits it does serve a purpose. We are just applying the theory that bad money drives out good. Most tellers catch on quickly and start doing their own searching. But on occassion we get "lucky".

It is not our fault the government debases our money on a daily basis. We are just astute enough to try to benefit from our knowledge of numismatics in the process. Keep up the roll searching and may all of your efforts be fruitful! Sincerely, John Leckrone

Wolf times are bad yes. But people without knowledge don't see it as anything other than face value

I own a icecream truck and get kids bringing me coins from there parents collection or in cups or draws mom and dad set aside.
I got a few worn Walking halves about 6 months ago.

I told the kid is it ok to spend them , the kid ran inside and the mom came back and said " yea its o.k to spend um I called a coin shop he offered 4$ a piece for um but I gotta drive across town and spend 10 dollars in gas "
I said yea does not make sense does it , in my coin try they went and off went a fat faced kid with a icecreamcookie

I can understand people spending them too
there are 2 sides to non collectors views on coins
1) its old so it has to be worth a fortune
2) it's just a coin and unless you find someone who wants to buy it, its worth face

people don't realize how easy it would be to ind a buyer
good for us though!
