Being from Minnesota I would certainly like to add this coin to my collection. Been searching for the elusive tree for at least the last five years. As for the grade a MS-63, IMHO. Congrats on find!

Is it possible to find a Minnesota quarter that doesn't have an "extra tree"? I believe there are supposed to be something like 80 different varieties.

Quote:Should I take it to a local dealer, or just put it on ebay? A local dealer might give you 26 cents for it Unless you can attribute the specific DDR, then you will be doing yourself a disservice by selling it on ebay where it will sell for less money unattributed. The provided pics are not good enough to positively attribute it though I can see enough to know that it is one of the better Minnesota DDRs I think the market for these Minnesota quarters fizzled after dozens of DDRs were discovered, so many of them look alike and the doubling is so small that most collectors couldn't care less about them.

Sell it to rastatodd. Or maybe you can trade it to him for Brett Favre!

The coin for Brett is something to think about. Will see how the old man does. Took his sweet time getting off the couch! See you have 4 entries on this forum if you had more I like to have talked a deal.

A piece of honest advise that you can check into elsewhere ... I doubt this coin is worth the price of slabbing with ANACS (or any TPG). The link provided by coincollector is 5 years old .... and states values at the height of the frenzy. Every new variety is like this .... an initial mad rush to get into the game ....... then when hundreds (thousands) of the coins eventually appear we as a collecting herd move elsewhere. I suggest you do some current research on completed sales to get an idea of what this is worth today ..... promise it is not the 'frenzy' figures quoted in the outdated link provided. I suspect ..... based on seeing this play out many times ..... there is minimal market value for your coin today and what you have is a fun mint error that you can cherish as a collector ..... but not worth the price of slabbing. Both reverse pics show it. Look at the tree in the center of the coin, directly to the right of it is the tree doubling.
