ohhhh, I just saw that it says silver PROOF sets.
BUT, on the packaging, it says US mint, P.D.

Just an FYI for anyone buying these "Unopened" proof sets in the manila envelopes. The mint "DID NOT" seal these (wheezydog was correct). Most have been searched for cameos and near perfect strikes. Those that don't make the grade or exhibit spotting are re-inserted in the envelope and a tongue is applied to the glue strip on the envelope and voila! The owner has an unsearched/unopened mint proof set. Of course you have to open it to see the contents and the sellers will not accept returns on opened envelopes. Catch 22!
These are a gamble. Adam_E I hope these work out for you and aren't spotted or problem coins. Let us know what they look like when you get them. If you see problems, the rest of the community can learn from this.

i thought this was a mint set, not a proof set. a mint set from 1957 is $290. not $30. I narrowed the search down to Mint sets on the ebay filtering and these were with it, and I thought I was buying mint sets, not proof. so, in a way, ebay screwed me.

If I can't see the coin, I don't bid. What's to stop someone from popping some Mexican pesos in their "sealed US Mint sets"?
