well you know that if the government packaged these coins there would be almost 0 chance that 2 dimes miraculously ended up on the end and how can they be so sure that there are more dimes? and on top of that, 99.999999% of the un-searched lots are searched.

so I'd say screw it and buy something that you know that your getting instead of something that you MIGHT get

I have serious doubts if there are any truly unsearched rolls out there anymore, and especially not on ebay. And I really doubt that if these were actually bank-rolled, that they'd be so careless as to be wrapping dimes in with their pennies - and two in the same roll, no less?

Knowing nothing about the auction or the seller, I'm going to guess someone got his hands on a machine and cranked a bunch of these out, knowing they'd fetch more than just bulk pennies.

they still have the 'shotgun' roll thing on each end, so how could they be searched unless they had a machine re-roll em all?

Anyone can shotgun roll coins. That doesn't make them unsearched. I have even seen people unroll the end of an original shotgun roll and use a handheld mechanism to reroll the end to try to make it look like it's still original. Beware of shotgun rolls and make sure both ends are tightly rolled.

shotgun roll of 50 coins with a Barber dime on one end and a merc on the other end, with mixed wheats and dimes in between. they say they're unsearched, and they still have the 'shotgun' roll thing on each end, so how could they be searched unless they had a machine re-roll em all?

Stop and THINK. Read what it says. How would anyone know there are mixed wheats and dimes inbetween if NOT SEARCHED??
Sort of like saying I have 5 coins in my pocket and all are Jefferson nickels but I didn't look.

yeah, I mean I assumed from the beginning that they had, in fact, been searched...but there was some small possibility that they hadn't; who knows, maybe the bank told them there were wheats mixed in there...

besides they were CALLING to me!

Well to further answer your question let me ask you one. If they are truly unsearched and have a dime at the end, how do they know what is in between? How do they know that there are wheat's and dimes in there? They were not run through a coin counter of any type I know of because it would sort the cents and dimes from each other, loading only the denomination it is set for into the tube. And how is it that they all seem to have a dime at both ends.

This is a new twist on and old baiting tactic. People were catching on to the old trick of the Flying Eagle/Indian Head rolls so they resorted to something a little more costly but just as effective. Al you will find in those rolls are common date 40's and 50's junk.

I wonder if there is a book out on what you should say on ebay. One of those ebay selling tactics for dummies. If not someone here should write one. Problem is just to few to make a decent book.
1. I have a bag of UNSEARCED Cents
2. I have a roll of xxxx UNSEARCED with a super rare xxxx at each end
3. I no nothing about coins and have inherited xxxx and willing to sell for practically nothing
4. I no nothing about coins and a freind of mine asked me to sell these for him
5. This is a very RARE 2005D Lincoln Cent and I'm willing to let it be sold for less than a million dollars.

It's a sales ploy, a gimmick. Many people fall for it. Like lemmings over the cliffs.
If you can live with yourself, it is a good way to make money and take advantage of people by making up rolls like these. They are not searched rolls, they searched the coins before the coins were stacked up in the tubes and they put the bait on the ends.

Not taking up for the sellers, but they are relying on greed of the buyers. Every scam out there works the same way. The "victims" hoping to get something for nothing. I have fallen for the same tricks, but realized I was just as guilty as the seller.
