Quote: So, now "could" be the time to do it if you're going to. Could be... But for me it is. I would look at how much you have to sell... calculate how much youll get at current prices, estimate what you will get at +$1/oz, +2$/oz, etc and decide if that difference is worth the risk of it going down. More me it was a difference of about $30 if silver jumped up to $25/oz (when it was $22.50 ish) So I sold. Sure knowing now, I would have made another $25 or so... but if given the opportunity and the same numbers.. I would do it again. Risk / reward. Simple as that. If you choose to hold.. maybe figure a "no lower than" price, to minimize losses in case we already peaked and are on our way down.

Quote:Oh my! I almost fainted! .... Long story short......the wife wants a new King size bed ! My father n' law made us a VERY nice hand crafted African Mahogany four poster King size bed frame. He brought it over from Utah where he lives, for our wedding present. Only problem.......WE DON'T HAVE A KING SIZE BED ! He, of course is expecting us to remedy this rather quickly......and after the honeymoon expense.....bills.....UGH ! I just had to VERY PAINFULLY breakdown and do this ! (sell my junk silver) I DID feel VERY depressed about doing it......the money was good....but it took me SOOOO MANY YEARS to acquire all of those halves from roll searching my tail off ! .......hundreds of hours of work.....ohhhhh.......but.......I guess this is what "married folks" do right ? ... So, I need the extra funds to purchase this huge pillow-top monstrosity of a somethin' er' other ! I tell ya, over the past few weeks, I've learned more about "coils" and "bed materials" than I EVER wanted to know....but the biggest thing I learned........ IS THAT KING SIZE MATTRESSES ARE NOT CHEAP ! Lordy Lordy ! ......

OH ! HOW RIGHT YOU ARE ! SHE SNORES LIKE A TRUCK DRIVER ! The ONLY time " I " can get a good nights sleep, is when I've taken some cough medicene and am " knocked out" ! ... There are other "noises" emitted from that side of the bed too, but, this being a family friendly forum, I'll let that go unmentioned ! .... .. ...l.. .. So, now she thinks I'm sick all the time, as I injest unhealthy amounts of Nyquil on a near nightly basis while wearing a gas mask. Ummm......I might add: By the way.....if she happens to read this......I'll be needing a place to stay for awhile ! ....... Luv you Honey !! ..... ....

SDcoinguy, you have the right formula, but it's all about timing.I'm sitting on 20 pounds that I got at the $15-16 mark and I still can't decide when to sell.

maineman,
i have been doing some in depth research and I've been finding a lot of researchers pointing to November as being the time when silver will start dropping... is this for sure? if it was then we would all be billionaires...
my point is that the market has swings, ups, downs, and most agree that we are in an upswing with silver. there is no doubt that it will continue to climb, just not that much more this year. I feel that in a few more weeks we will see $25, maybe $26.. but then, because of silver being overbought and overpriced, I believe, again I say, I BELIEVE, that we wil see a big sell off and the price drop dramatically.. just dont know when or by how much. but when it does, we will know. and then, I will invest more $$$

if you've made your money, get out before the peak and wait for the drop. unless you are very very good or extremely lucky, you could well lose your shirt waiting for it to continue going up. i bought bank of america stock when it dipped to 2 dollars last year...it got up to 10 dollars and I sold, and now it's hovering between 13 and 15. am I kicking myself? heck no. sure, I didn't maximize my profit, but I safely made a profit. that's my Two Cent analogy for how to handle this silver thing. if you bought it around 15-16 i'd go ahead and sell and wait for it to drop again.

Yes...I'm thinking of at least unloading enough to get my original investment back. That way I can't loose. And oblaka, the reason I retired at 50 is that I bought some stock @ $20....refused to sell when the experts said to ($80)and it finally reached $940...so you can understand why I'm hesistant...if I only knew the difference between luck and intuition.

I have a different take. Of course, if you need to cash out for monetary reasons then do so. But, to me silver is an insurance policy. It is protection against irresponsible monetary policy.

Nobis1, I believe your theory is in a large part responsible for the rising price of silver. However,I'm not sold on the idea.
