I got on the computer this morning and looked up Franklins Type 1 & 2. It seems that there was 3 years of types 1 & 2. 1956, 1958 and 1959. My 56 is type 1, with my 58 and 59 type 2. Isn't the internet great!

I filled mine with two Franklin museum tokens (they are smaller but I used black foam 28mm from airtights to snug them up. One other hole has a 10mm sterling silver Franklin from the Franklin mint no less.. and the final hole has a cutout Franklin with Liberty Bell. You could always put a Bugs Bunny Franklin in one too.... Paleoguy

To finish my set I put the following
1892 Columbian Expo , Booker T. Washington, barber, walking liberty and a 1964 kennedy
As a reminder to what sets I hope to complete one day

I have an idea about 4 of the 5 holes, fill them with the previous year series 1947, 1947-D Walking liberty's and 1964, 1964-D Kennedy's

Quote:That is not a bad idea! I second that! For hole #5, you could consider a silver Bicentennial Half Dollar - Franklin spent a fair amount of time in Independence Hall, the building featured on the reverse of 1776-1976 half dollar.

Great ideas! Pssst... this thread is almost 11 years old. I'm guessing Wornslick has probably figured out something by now. But maybe not.

Yup. However, Worksick is welcome to use these ideas. Sometimes you have wait for the right fit, no matter how long it takes!

I know you weren't responding to Wornslick; I just thought it was amusing that we had revived an 11-year-old topic. The ideas are good; my Dansco still has those 5 holes. Perhaps I'll do the PDSS of the Bicentennial half dollars for 4 of the holes and a generic Franklin reverse to show the bell for the 5th.

No one mentioned a 55 Bugs Bunny Franklin. Is it already listed in the album?

If pursuing a Franklin "Variety" subset for the five holes, might I suggest:
1. A Full Bell Lines (FBL) example (any year) 2. A Proof Example (w/ Cameo Contrast; any year) 3. Type I (indistinct eagle feathers, reverse) 4. Type II (detailed eagle feathers, reverse) 5. Bugs Bunny (die clash, "teeth" added to Franklin portrait, obverse)
