Thanks,

What variety would you say? NWL?

Edit: cazzuey, I also found my camera, so I might get some pictures up in the next few days.

It's not looking MS in the scans to me either... I'd say VF-XF. Hope the pictures are better.

Sorry everyone, I tried to take some pictures of the coin and it just can't focus close up.

For now, no pictures.

I'd say it's NWL but I'm not sure if its the water line variety

It looks like the NWL variety to me. Short Water Line (3 lines but none touch the canoe), FWL (at least one of the WL touches the canoe) and Arnprior (1.5 WL) varieties exist.

As for grade, it has rim dings, the letters "HB" are gone, the king's forehead is worn and pitted, and there are too many dings on the Rev to grade this coin MS. There seems to be silver polish residue in the Obv. legend. Depending on the lustre I'd give it a EF-45 or AU-50 worth about $18.

I was looking at the coin under good light yesterday and the black part near the rim is actually not black. It is a very nice dark blue, and shines when you turn it certain ways.

The letters are still clearly visible, even in the scan.
