Be sure to sort out and keep aside any red BU Lincolns from the 1980s. Tube them up and forget about them. One of these days you will thank me for this.

Quote: Be sure to sort out and keep aside any red BU Lincolns from the 1980s I certainty do that, had that already in mind to keep the "reds" aside.Quote: Be sure to share any intersting finds with us I hope that I can show a lot.. I'm happy if I find 1 nice/good error..Today I made the first separation, I sorted them out by mint and decade.. Found a few wheats, oldest was 1910p.. Also found a (home-made?) counter stamped clover image. To bad it isn't a 4 leaf.. But maybe he brings me luck with my search, you never know. Think I start this weekend with the 50's and 60's..

I got one with Nixon's head stamped in. I think there are a bunch of different things stamped into them (usually in that spot).

Actually this is not 'home made' - it's a counterstamp. Generally to get that sharp an image into a cent it takes more force than your typical household tools will provide. They generally sell for a couple of bucks on ebay, etc. That's a shamrock - Irish for good luck. Four leaf clovers are an American thing.

I've seen that clover on other pennies before, not sure when, but I laughed a little bit. I'll remember to snag them next time I see them.

Sander, yes it looks like MD on the 72. Still fun to find and sharpens your eye.Be sure to check the obverse on thse 72's closely, there are lots of double dies that year, some not as obvious as others.

It looks like gas bubbles that get caught under the plating of the zinc cents which they switched to in 1982. There are 7 varieties of Lincoln's for that year.
Zinc and copper cents with Large and Small dates. So, if you're looking to collect ANY varieties, you will want to know which is which.
The only one not known to exist is the 1982 Small Date copper cent.

i started again with the search.. had some delay.. Now I got stuck with 1974 small/large date. I think I found both, maybe both are large.. Need some feedback on this variety..

Yeah, that appears to be both varieties. The first is the large, second is small. You can teel by looking at the curly part of the tail on the 9. If it curves and points to the mid-part of the 7, it's a small. If it points to the base of the 7 it's large.
