Mine is massive and I have waited too long to begin really organizing and cataloging everything. That is my current project.

Why bother starting something like that now. I could, can and are willing to help by just taking all of them off your hands. Why just think if you packed up all that STUFF and sent it to me, I would have to be the one with the problem. BUT I am saving you from a lot of work.

My wife says too many I say not enough, actual numbers I have no real idea I have several thousand cataloged but buckets of loose uncatalogued coins as well. Every new coin that comes in gets recorded but so far procrastination has worked really well for the remaining ones.

I do count mint sets, commemorative's and graded bullion, but on individual US coins, I only collect from the years prior to 1910. I do not count bulk silver, rolls, or anything in mass that is common. I have approximately 450 coins and 200 pieces of currency, medals and unused stamps. 40% are graded.

I believe that I only have a couple of hundred in my collection. I'm always selling everything though that does'nt fit into one of my Dansco albums, so I never have a lot of extras lying around. I have thousands of wheats and copper pennys, but I dont really count those.

I have software that I use to organize my collection. As of now it shows 6900 coins graded catalogued and in albums or in boxes. All mint sets would be counted as one so the number is a little low plus I have a couple thousand coins not entered yet into inventory.

250,000 coins at (say) 5 grammes each works out at around 1 1/2 tonnes of coins!

Something that many people don't think about. Always reminds me of a building I once worked in where it was never intended for an Engineering type office. This means tons of papers, books, machines, etc. Due to the exessive weight, the walls actually started to separate from the floors, the floors started to bow. Eventually the almost new building had to be evacuated until it could be reinforced.
I wonder how mnay people consider the weight of coins in their homes?

I hadn't... until I recently had to move them. And of course, I wasn't letting a mover anywhere near them, so I had to do those myself.

Extra Strength Tylenol is my new best friend.
