Sounds like you live near me! My bank just got fresh rolls of Lincoln dollars, and an antique mall just opened that has a coin vendor in it. Ohio?

Yes. Cincinnati area. That is hilarious. But actually the person thought that they were silver too (they were marked silver and were in a all sterling silver display case). What is funny is that two rows away was a coin collectors display case and he had one nickel 3 cent piece in there for $35.

i used to pick up silver dimes for $1 and 40% silver halves for $1.50 like about 1.5 years ago. Whats even better is that they all know me so they keep an eye out for what I'm looking for.

very nice find, the dealer or the person who sold you the coin at the antique mall, did not have the right knowledge about the coins you purchased. But you had the knowledge at the right place, you applied it, you bought the coins, now you can cherish the coins in your collection.
chance favors the prepared mind
warm wishes.

Wow collector you are from Ohio, what a coincidence. However, we are talking about two different areas though, thought you may be in my area. I am right in Central Ohio, about 2 hours from Cincy. I am a Bengals fan though(ouch!)

a year ago I got a junked silver Benjamin half dollar for $4.50. AyeJay you from the Columbus area? (that is my guess but must be North of columbus). Yeah I am a bengals fan but they arent doing well. this year. Funny thing is this guy is mainly silver world coins. the world book he has says it was silver (that is the other 3 cent peice at the same years) Wrong coin. Same denomination and year though. HAH

actually it is sort of good that some of the coins are over priced. About 6 months ago (before the jump in silver prices) I went in and filled my folders with silver quarters and dimes for face value. Now that silver went up the prices stayed the same so people came in and wiped the entire silver coin section out of stock. the guy said that they didnt even bother looking at the dates. They just took it for the silver content that was about $.50 under priced.
