Quote: Your description sounds well informed do you by chance have a link or scanned article that references the event? Heh. Having watched him in action these last few years, I pretty much attribute to Conder101 himself these days, rather than whatever his original source might have been. If Conder says it, take it to the bank.

Hey all. When Bio and Fenton sounded so sure of themselves, I couldn't buy into it holding an authentic looking CoA and packaging. So a friend got me in touch with the folks at Coin World. Looks like they may resurrect a 1997 copy of the news and republish as an update in a future article. Not too many folks were aware of this Morgan release. And now I've found a second one in the bottom of the box! Jeez...maybe their worth... I'll be more than happy to share a picture or two if I can figure out how to post pictures! Lol

Apparently, this is the biggest secret in the history of the US Mint because I can find no record of this supposed sale anywhere Of course, pictures with the original post would have helped.

Here's a couple of pics of the CoA. I haven't heard back from Coin World this morning, but I'll keep you updated.

Superdave, I appreciate the vote of confidence but I'm not always right. On this one I am sure of everything except the date of when it occurred. And it was reported/discussed in Coin World when it happened. Mainly because of the gripes, so I'm not sure it would be found as an article. It might only be found in the letters to the editor. (People love to gripe about the Mint.)

Okay, so if there were only 321 of these released by the Mint, jeez, I mean, being that I have two...I gotta be sittin on a load of money. Think Heritage would be interested in auctioning? Lol
Thank you for your warm welcome. I look forward to a great time here.

Hi all - I was looking through some boxes that have been in the back of my closet for years and found one of these. I vaguely remember buying it from the Mint back in the '90's. Didn't think much of it at the time. When it came in, opened it, was disappointed at how banged up it was, put it in a box with some other coins, shoved it into the back of the closet & forgot about it. Just rediscovered it. Anyone have any further info about these? I've spent hours searching the web and can't find out much about them. Here's a few photos:

Now a double set is news to me. I thought they were all sold off individually.

I did find someone else on another forum who has both sets. Oddly enough, the dates on his coins are the same as mine. I just don't understand the lack of information available about this offering. It really wasn't that long ago.

I had never heard of a 1997 mint release of historic silver dollars. I would love more info when available!
