Why is there a distribution problem? With over 200,000,000 of each 2009 P & D nickel they have to be somewhere. Bank vaults? Dealer safes? (or is it saves?)

I'm in St. Louis, I've found maybe 20 09 d's but no p's yet for nickels. I haven't found any dimes, but I really don't collect dimes.

No luck for me on 2009 dimes or nickels here in Eastern Washington:(. Probably time to buy a few bags of something other than pennies - ha ha.

Plenty around here. Never thought much of them so ? Some kind of rarity or something that I don't know about ?

No 2009 anything as of yet. Did pull a 2010D nickel out of a box of Canadian Nickels today. My first for 2010 US coinage as well. Keeping my eyes peeled.

Cool. Found a 2010P nickel to go with my P. Only 7 rolls left in the box. What are the chances of pulling a S mint? LOL! Most likely 1,000,000 to 1.

Indian1,
Total mint for 2009P nickels is 39,840,000 total for 2009D is 46,800,000. This compared to 345,600,000 for the 2008D and 279,840,00 for the 2008P Nickels. The figures for the 2009P and D dimes are similar. I've heard that a lot of places aren't seeing any at all due to a distribution issue... I was kind of wondering what locales are finding them.
Cladhunter13, If you decide to do any kind of trading to get more U.S. coins, CCF is the place for it! I can't start up trading until I have enough post. Would love to help out with what I can if I see you on there.
The rest of you all, I wish you luck in your searches! Went through about 50 nickels today and didn't find a one!

I went to the bank to get a couple rolls of nickels to search through, and I got 5 rolls of 2010 P nickels... Kind of annoying considering I was looking for older dates... :/

Keep the BU ones and use them to trade to other collectors. "Save the best, spend the rest." (Coop)

I found 10 rolls of 2009-D Jeffereson's in the strong box (really can't call it a safe).

Went to an indoor flea market and found a 2009 D dime. Yeah, I paid a little more than I should, but it was still under a buck. I wasn't seeing any anywhere else.
