Here you go Wolf. I figure you're probably having withdrawals by now. I thought these were interesting pieces. They are "pattern coins", but not really, I guess. I guess these are considered essai coins, supposedly produced to test public opinion of the design? Interesting that they made them in 2004. If I'm not mistaken Poland isn't due to join the eurozone (last I heard) until 2012 or 2015. I haven't heard an update in a while. I guess if this design does become adopted, then they would become real pattern coins? Either way, I thought they were really sharp. Thanks for turning me onto the ships! Now you've got me looking for them.

DANG! Those are pretty as heck. Love the bi-metallic with ships. If they do not adopt these they are crazy. They will probably put some dorky building on the real (for use) coins. WOLF

I'm surprised these weren't mentioned, unless I missed them. 1992-D Columbus Quincentenary Set. Interesting that on the dollar, they used a split image of the Santa Maria and the Space Shuttle Discovery. 90% and ships on all 4 sides!

This is a coin my grandfather gave me made of copper from the Liberty Ship John W. Brown. He sailed on a Liberty Ship in WWII and in the 1990s a bunch of veterans got together and restored the John Brown as a floating museum of sorts.
