And... For the record, you are mistaken. At no point did I render an opinion on this item, or it's value. I'm watching this thread, with interest, to learn something.

As for being your psychiatrist... No. Thank you. I'm not that much of a masochist.

We were typing at the same time. I would certainly enjoy your future input on this forum. As a group, we can never know too much.

I don't know anything about paper currency. But I sure enjoy watching you guys get to the bottom of a mystery.

Also what I like about THIS site.......there can be a disagreement/misunderstanding and all ends well!

Okay, I have been fooled by online photos more times than not.... (and I am in no way accusing the OP of doctoring anything).... many times altered notes wind up in the hands of the most honest of people... so I have gotten into the habit of wary skepticism.... Here is what caused my "fishy" comment..... the prefix letter seems to be of a different width on each serial.... the last digit also seems to be of a differing shape..... More than likely just the distortion of the photo blow up, but I would like to see a better picture before I commit to anything beyond trout or flounder on this one.

I also am cautiously optimistic about it. We can all give our opinions about notes like this but need something to see before we can really give it.

ErrorCurrencyBoy.... that is quite a user name..... I hope you wouldn't mind me shortening it to ECB or Bob, or something of your own choosing.... I like to use short chummy names, and find that it only facilitates a friendly atmosphere.... zeewool is my name... backwards, phonetically.... some folks here call me zee, but lou is more correct.

ErrorCurrencyBoy My comment was just saying that I would hope people would share their knowledge on the forum especially if the person feels that misinformation had been given, that way the whole forum can learn as we go. We have some members here that do collect notes and the more knowledge we can share together the more we can all learn together. Many times on here I have seen the student become the teacher down the road, and its really exciting to watch

Wow! The teacher in me wants to make everybody hold hands and sing the Barney song here. LOL! Let me help....first, I am a retired teacher turn convenience store owner. I see lots of cash roll through. A customer told me about star notes so I just started watching. When typing in the serial number on the info website, I realized they were different. My first thought was that it was fake. Did some research and found out it was possible, but still didn't know for sure if it had any value. Not sure if I want to sell. I reexamined the bill looking for what y'all have pointed out. Thanks. Will repost another pic because that scan WAS bad. I appreciate alllll your input. I believe a sign of an intelligent person is not one who knows everything but who knows where to find the information. So here I am. Oh, and I am a woman. LOL.

TeeTow,

And we are grateful you came to our forum for advice. You'll notice that we don't always agree, but with everyone lending a hand, we do try to provide accurate information and insight. As Bryan noted above, folks just like you come in looking for information, and before you know it, they are sharing that information with others. I for one, do hope you continue to participate here, because who knows what you're going to find in that cash register!

Hey ECB.... here is one of my few error notes... kinda old and dirty, but it is one of my favorites (inverted back).... what do you think? I believe it is in a TPG holder.... I'll dig it out and post more pictures if you like.

Thanks for pointing that out ckrakowski.... Yes, I do believe that you, the OP, and everyone else who believes that the note is a genuine error is most likely correct about it being a mismatched serial number..... however, I have seen (more than a couple of times) where a note had been tampered with, and even in hand, it was very difficult to tell..... I can only go by the OP's view that the prefixes are both "B", and that the last digits are both "7".... the picture provided (on my screen anyway) is extremely blurry, and most likely this is what causes things to appear strange to me..... Maybe you are capable of seeing this note clearly on your screen, where I am not.

edited to add:
One more thing: (On my screen), the right serial number seems to be dimensionally longer than the left serial number (which is odd to me), but again, it could be just the distorted picture that I am viewing.

Was it checked under a black light?

No, striped.

Kidding aside, checked for what? We've already had a specialist tell us it's anown error.
