Tough choice One toned one not The second coin seem to have less wear on the eagles wing and chest ...the knee looks great on both coins...can't tell on the emblem on shield (the 2nd coin has a strong light reflection)...rivets are great on both coins. The obv. strike seems to be nicer on the second coin. Especially on the 'trust'. There is that ding on the eagle' chest. It's a tough choice IMO. I recently got this one...AU.....yours are better.

The strike on the head is quite remarkable.
Have you decided yet?

Not yet, though I'm leaning toward second one.

I'm leaning towards first, the second looks possibly dipped to me. I like the first one's originality.

The second one I think would look better with out so much glare in the photo. As photographed, I like the first better. That crusty original color is very appealing.

The second one looks to be a FH compared to the first one. That's comparing the pics. Not having the second one in hand, I'd say choose that one. If it's been dipped, well...no brainer.

They are both amazing! (But, I never would have upgraded from the first one). But now you have 2 NICE coins!

they each have their strong points as have been mentioned here. First coin: You know its original and not a bad looking coin by any standards Second coin: May have been dipped at some time, but has close to a Full Head Both seem to be close to the same grade, the white one may be a little better but not by much, so its all in what you like best for your set

Shadow "I'm leaning towards first, the second looks possibly dipped to me. I like the first one's originality." I have a couple of Standing Liberty quarters and 2 or 3 still have great luster.....i was just wondering how you know if they have been dipped or if they are just still holding the great luster from mint.....im kind of new to the standing liberty's so any information would be great thanks!

Thank you so much for all the input! I'm so glad I found this forum. Quote: Moe145: I never would have upgraded from the first one Usually just whatever I come across I compare it to what I've already got, fill any holes I don't have, and keep one of everything. Kinda like catch and release. Sometimes you throw back some real nice ones. I'm going to try to stop by a long time friends coin shop sometime before the weekend is out and see his opinion in hand on the 'dipped' possibility. Right now, I'm sticking with #2 unless it's been dipped. Main reasons: Eye appeal, much more head detail on #2 under magnification, and #1 has a dark un-natural streak across the coin coming from the lower right side. One more side by side: High exposure: Low exposure:

Went to the coin shop today, they agreed, the brighter SLQ had been dipped. Less wear on it though, plus sharper strike. Still can't decide. I'll be listing whichever I don't sell on ebay this weekend.

Since these are so close, I do like the brighter one for the full head and stronger shield. I've listed the toned one on ebay. Thanks for everyone's input.
