If this coin was placed on ebay at any premium over a normal 1969S cent, it is misrepresented. A number of people here have specifically stated that this is a normal coin and is NOT WORTH a premium value. Misrepresentation of items on ebay can result in having your listings removed, and can ultimately result in having you banned from ebay. Just so you know, there are numismatists specifically registered with ebay who cruise these forums and ebay auctions regularly to report misrepresented items running on ebay. I have not seen the auction, I'm just letting you know because it appears that you might have taken a normal coin listing it as something it is not even after being told it is not what you thought it was. If you come here asking questions and experts chime in with the correct answer, then you go listing the items on ebay specifically against the advice you've been given, it's a good way to have yourself ignored here and banned from ebay. Just saying... |

Sad that somebody got ripped off like that. Yes, the buyer should of done more research but ebay just lets this happen again and again. Wonder if eventually there will be a class action suit against them? |

I will be watching this person's future auctions and will jump to report misrepresentation. That's right, I have ebay's ear when it comes to reporting stuff. It's stuff like this that specifically irks me...they come around, waste our time asking questions just to turn around and misrepresent stuff to buyers who don't know any better. All stuff like this does is ruin the hobby for the beginner and chance them leaving the hobby due to distrust, and there are a lot of people like me who are trying to make an honest living at coins. This kind of stuff takes food off my table in a round about way. The buck stops here for coinsmaster as far as I'm concerned. The help-line is closed. Dishonesty will have to be disproven to me at this juncture. |

$40.99 is pretty sick especially given the info the seller received on this site. Although, the buyer(private) could easily inspect the coin, realize it's not a DD, and return it for a full refund. Still very very pathetic though.

AFTER LOT OF COMMENTS THAT MY COINS IS MD I SOLD IT AS NORMAL UNCIRCULATED COIN FROM MINT SET WITH DOUBLING OBVERSE AND REVERSE.I AGREED WHAT MD COINS WORTHLESS FOR NOW (LIKE DD COINS WORTHLESS 100 YEARS AGO), BUT MY COIN IS UNCIRCULATED FROM MINT SET.PCGS PRICE 1969S IS ABOUT $20 TO $30 FOR MS65 AND JUMP $110 TO $180 FOR MS66.I AM NOT AGREED THIS COIN WORTHLESS AS A COIN ITSELF... You left out the part where you said: 1969S double die? Machine Doubling? I don't know. I am collecting regular coins and don't have any idea about error coins. Don't ask. Any questions or need extra picture -- contact me directly <email address>.
For years I collected 1000 error coins from mint sets, BU rolls and circulated coins. It is time put all my error coins in e-bay for sale.How can you collect for "years", have "1000 error coins", and not "have any idea about error coins"? I did contact you at the e-mail you listed and asked for zoomed pics of what you thought was the doubling and you basically sent me pics that were similar to your listing. You didn't show me anything. |

1. Machine Doubling is NOT a mint error, and you could find that printed in this forum a thousand times if you could find it here once. It is an accepted and completely normal part of the minting process, and that horse has been beat to death here MANY times. 2. PCGS price guide is for PCGS graded coins. Unless your coin is in a holder, its value is $1 or less. 3. Because the coin came from a mint set does NOT make it automatically more valuable. Once it is removed from a mint set it is a simple uncirculated coin just like the other tens of millions of examples out there. 4. Your description is misleading because you were TOLD that your coin was NOT a doubled die by a number of people who DO know what they are talking about - including me. I have been studying this for over 30 years and have published TWO books on the subject. 5. Refunds are nice, but they are rather worthless unless the buyer knows the coin isn't worth what you sold it for. If I painted a brick gold and sold it to you as gold, if you trusted me that it was gold you wouldn't be looking for a refund. 6. What you did is probably the biggest no-no in coin selling. You were told you had nothing, yet still sold it to someone who doesn't know any better as 'something' and played stupid to get bids. What you did does NOTHING at all to help the numismatic community, because you probably just turned a new collector away from the hobby by playing on his ignorance. And YOU KNEW you were doing it. Sob stories about losing a job DO NOT give you the inalienable right to shaft other people out of THEIR money with shady practice. It's wrong, and the ONLY way to right the wrong is to send the guy's money back and let him keep the $1 coin for his trouble and tell him you don't know what you are doing and were corrected by someone who does. ANYTHING short of that and you can basically consider yourself unwelcome in these parts as far as I am concerned. There is NOTHING that grinds at me more than a consciousless swindler who parts money from beginners with lies. It's a real business killer for all of us hard working people who have spent YEARS working to build the reputation of trust in numismatics that people like you endlessly try to crash down. And no - I'm NOT at all regretful or sorry about this. I think it's completely shameful to do what you did, and it's even worse to come back here justifying it with half-truths. |

^Chuck and Scooby are 100% correct. You claim you want to learn yet you disregard what is being taught? I am certainly not an expert but any help I would have been able to give is gone. I, for one, will no longer respond to any postings you make. Consider yourself shunned.

Wow. What completely floors me is the utter lack of remorse or guilt for fleecing an obviously uninformed victim. Most people would feel a little guilty, yet the impression I get is a cold sense of pride and justification. I use to laugh when I heard the saying that capitalism kills the heart, but wow, I guess there are kernels of truth in all those old sayings.
