This is what 90% of my wheats that are dug at beaches look like. If he gets bids on this I'm throwing up my key trash on the bay. I would not pay nuthin for this junk. I don't even see how you all are saing it is a 1909-S. I don't see it. WOLF

A long time ago...
in a not so far off place...
a scammer sold this chinese counterfeit to a hopeful collector. That hopeful collector sends said coin to be graded. PCGS laughs for a couple weeks... PCGS sends said coin back to sender with note saying "thanks for the laugh, you just wasted $1000, or so". That collector cannot return the coin, as the scammer is sipping Margaritas on a beach somewhere in Mexico. The scamee crys for about a week, then comes up with a plan. He takes many, many volotile explosives and lets them off in a 55 gallon barrel in the middle of the desert. Upon returning home, his wife takes the car to the grocery store, comes back, and asks her husband(aka: the scamee), "Why was this penny stuck in your windshield wiper?"... Scamee looks in wife's hand and...... He gets on ebay and wants to be rid of it to another sucker like him...

The End

I think my 1909 S VDB looks better. I will even let it go for $99

To answer the orginial question:
I would pay exactly 1 cent for it, because I fairly
certian it is one of those. Not a penny more.
Those have got to be shill bids, right?
I mean no one is that stupid?

I would have to say winning bid for the seller, losing bid for the buyer

I can't believe that thing went for so much! I wouldn't even consider buying one in this condition. But, to each his own I suppose.

Here's how I look at it. Let's assume it's the real thing. Then the winner has a genuine 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent. Period.

There are millions of penny collectors who can't say the same thing. So I think for the winner, it was totally worth it-and at a fraction of the normal price. Who cares what it looks like--it's the real thing, and chances are it fills up the last remaining hole in the folder.

That is a very expensive assumption to make on a coin that is impossible to definitively authenticate.
