A group of platypus is a platyplot.
And the tenth one was busy stinging someone. They're poisonous, you know - in Australia, animals either eat your crops or poison you. Natural selection in action. Aussies are hardcore people, and they've already eradicated all the boring animals.

bobbi- platypuses or platypi are both correct. onejinx- is also correct, there is no collective word Quote:
A group of platypus is a platyplot. Nice try, guy. Even gewgil doesn't recognize that word. A baby platypus is a puggle. There is no gender name distinction.

the #2 fun fact: I can see why they thought it was a hoax when they were found because it looks like they had extra parts left over and instead of throwing them away they made the platypus

Very strange, the whole egg-laying-mammal thing. If I could lay an egg I bet someone would put me on a platinum coin.

I'm just impressed they were able to round up 10 of the little fellas to fill out their stupid survey! The fact that 1 out of the 10 didn't go for it, that's just the icing on the cake. ;)

Quote: platypuses or platypi are both correct. Plural of "a platypus" is "platypuses" or... "platypus". This second form is promoted by The Australian Platypus Conservancy. "Platypi" is an error, because the change "us -> i" should be applied only to words of Latin origin while "platypus" is of Greek origin. Quote: A group of platypus is a platyplot. A good one! Quote: A baby platypus is a puggle. Not exactly. "A puggle" is a baby echidna. There is no common term for a baby platypus, yet "a platypup" is suggested. For the language nuances look here: http://platypus.asn.au/historical_background.htmlNow about that mysterious tenth platypus from the first post. I guess that the tenth platypus knows you have no money for an ounce of platinum.
