Wait until you earn a reputation and the local police figure they need to show that they're on the ball, and the easiest way is to set up a sting. Then you can waste a lot of hours and thousands of dollars with attorneys trying to explain away why you were willing to pay seven bucks each for stolen silver dollars.

Bigfredd are you familiar with the law? There is absolutely no law that prohibits me from buying silver dollars at a low price, if the person is willing to sell it to me. And this is coming from someone who went to wharton? I feel a little less intelligent now...

As far as buying three Peace dollars for 20 bucks, knowledge is power, and if the less informed made that sale without thinking it through, then their loss.

If you use insider knowledge to take advantage of someone, you, as a "knowledgeable buyer" can be sued. It's on the same level as insider stock sales. Does it happen? All the time, but bragging about doing it in a pubic forum afterwards isn't the brightest move.

Im sorry but that is completely false. Its called a free market society - if someone offers to give you something for less than its worth, you have every right, and are protected legally, to purchase it for that amount. - seriously?

Genius, you can't buy stolen property, even if it is cheap.

I don't pretend to know all the laws, but I can tell you there are lots of them that might surprise you. A friend of mine was fuming over a $25 ticket for leaving his keys in the ignition. And they apparently write that one often, because there's a check-off box for it on the ticket envelope.

A dealer friend told me he was at a show in PA, and the weights + measures folks stole confiscated tens of thousands of dollars worth of electronic scales, as not being legal for trade. It gets better. A triple-beam scale he had was approved. You could also heft a ring in your hand and make an offer, and that was OK, just not an electronic scale that might weigh to 0.001 gram.

Ever go fishing in Canada? Clean your fish up to take home? If you don't leave a 1" square of skin on each piece, when you cross back into the US, Canadian customs will steal confiscate all your fish.

And gear. And your car.

Many states and other jurisdictions require you get ID, sigs, sometimes pix of everyone you buy from, some require expensive licenses. Does yours? Are you sure? It's prolly illegal to buy from a minor, or between a certain hour of the evening and a time in the morning.

Judging by your grammar rbethell11, I highly doubt you go to Wharton. Since I recently graduated from there myself in 2009 id love to hear the classes your taken and professors you have. Chances are we have had the same classes and professors.

swrbxxx- would you like me to list my daily schedule too? how about my ss number? I could not care less if you believe that I go to Wharton. It makes no difference to me, and is just a side note in this conversation.

What's schedule and ss have to do with it. I am a alumni, I know the professors, I'm calling your bluff, as you seem to be the type of person who is a compulsive liar

If I was going to try to make money in silver I would place an ad in "wanted to buy " pre 1964 silver coins. Will pay (let's say) 20 times face value." Current face value is 25.2 times face value. You change your ad every day or other day to reflect the market change. I would advertise in one of those "free want ads" rags to keep advertising costs at zero. When you run out of money while waiting to get money back from the buyer tell any callers to leave their information and you will get back to them as soon as you are funded again. I think the face value sales game holds the most potential for quick turnaround once you get your buyer in line and set up an offer price that guarantees a tidy profit with each turn. You are seldom going to find someone selling Peace dollars for $20 a pop.
