CrystalH, your e-mail address was removed because spammers like to troll the forums for them.

I, too, am sorry for your loss, Crystal. That's an awesome find though, as you can see everyone drooling over this discovery! One note, if it hasn't already been mentioned, the picture with the Shoppers prescription bottle may have sensitive information on it (name or address, etc.). I read you've moved most to a safety deposit box, which is great.

Have fun with the collection!

I happen to collect stuff from WW2 including the third reich, and those medals are indeed a neat piece of history imo. Your grandmother had quite an amazing collection of stuff.

Thanks again for all the kind comments guys. Over the past week I took all the junk silver coins 1968 and previous appraised. I'm really taken back here as I had a big bucket or so of the stuff which we found in their closet. The appraisal on all the half dollars, silver dollars, quarters and dimes was over $14,000.

One coin dealer who appraised some of it offered to buy a certain amount for $2,000. So I sold them and donated the money to a missionary who goes to third world countries and builds schools and wells. The fellow that I sold them too, I told him what I was doing and he donated $500.00 along with it!

The rest of it we packed up and took it to a safe place :)

How cool.

Did you get a receipt from the missionary? If not, go back and get one. Your donation is tax deductible.

Did you check out this missionary? Unfortunately, not all are on the up and up. Very, very few actually do anything with the money.

Yes I did. My mother is a minister and she goes on the actual trip with them and helps out while they build stuff :)

The coin dealer asked to meet the person that runs it, so she went in and he donated too. Really super nice guy.

If you didnt have the funds for college, this would help haha :) wish I could find that much silver and gold sitting in my grandmas attic!

However, I am sorry for your loss. I am sure she would be happy to see you so excited over her treasures though :)

OH MY GOODNESS!!
(keeping the language clean)

That is an amazing stash your late grandmother left for you.
Mine did the same thing for me but all I got was the note saying what ever is in the safe was mine.... sadly other members of my family emptied it out before I could see what it was.
I would love to be able to find out what was actually left for me, but no point crying over spilt milk... I am just happy I had her in my life for that short time I did know her.
I would like to talk to you more about the medals if you still have them.
But that is something I would talk about in private to you.
Oh and please dont ever sell what coins you have left, they were put there for a reason and left to you and really if it was mine a million dollars wouldnt make me part with it.
thanks for showing us though!
Look forward to more pictures!!
