Do Lincoln Roll Searchers Keep S Mint Cents?

I definitely do. I hardly ever find them, which is mostly through roll-searching, and they're a nice change of pace to the Ps and Ds.


Funny, those happen to be the only two S memorial cents I still need.

I keep and hoard every S-mint memorial I find. As of today, I think I have almost 5000 of 'em. I find more than my share of them out here on the left coast.

They won't be worth more than FV in my lifetime and I realize that. But I have a very beautiful 8 month old grandaughter now.

It's very possible that her children...or her grandchildren will want 'em.

They made coins for circulation at the San Fancisco mint from 1968-74.
I keep all from 1970, because I haven't gotten around to learning how to spot the small date variety. Besides that, I release 69-74s and keep anything else, since I keep all the wheaties I find and would definitely keep a proof if I ever came across one.

I save all of mine and organize then into rolls by date
so far the only one I have a full roll of is 1974 (I have 2 full rolls of that date)
the others I am still working on full rolls.
I have been at it for 2 years
to someone like me they would be worth something
I don't buy a lot of coins but if I did I wouldn't mind spending 2-3 bucks on a roll of circulated S mints

I'm in the West so I find them all the time. Unless they are BU, I throw 'em in the copper jar.

I keep them as well. I don't find a ton here in the Midwest.

I think there is something special about finding S mint marks on any coin. In the Eastern US they have never been plentiful. I don't roll search much but I look at every coin I get and have been saving cents, especially the copper ones, since 1974. Only the 1974-S have I been able to get a full roll, and the great majority of these were obtained years ago. I know they are aren't worth a premium (except for the copper) but I save them anyway.

Of course, their worth a little over face value, at least most are.
