FTR, and not to rain on anyones parade, it's my opinion that the obverse toning seems artificial. That didn't affect my grade, but as a matter of appeal I have to say I don't care for it.

From what I can see, I'll guess 65 as the fields look a little busy on the reverse around the 'In God We Trust'. Tough to grade toners from small images as the toning could be hiding some problems. BTW, very nice original looking coin. I like the way the toning accents the portrait.......sweet!

This one's at the grade level where I want much bigger pics to come up with a comfortable grade. I could see the coin I see there in a 65 holder, though.
Great shots, if small.

Kind of a small reveal isn't it? Or did you just want to keep us in further suspense?

For some reason TypeMaster the pics are still the same size. The suspense is killing me.

Got it. Thanks. Wow, I figured this would be a little higher. Wonder what PCGS would give this? Or would have. Now that they are supposedly tightening their grading standards on Morgans a little it may be about this grade.

I think PCGs would give it a 64 or maybe even bodybag it for AT even though it looks original to me, they just seem to bag them alot here recently

The coin is worthy of the grade. Thank You TypeMaster for the grading challenge.

No problem! I have to admit that on many of these coins I would not have graded as highly as the TPG. I am from the old school. MS 60/63/65/67/70. I never grade a coin an even number in MS. To me it has always been senseless. If a coin won't go a 65 I will grade it a 63. Simple as that. Usually it never is. Even if a TPG says a coin is a 66 and it won't go a 67 in my estimation, I grade it a 65 (if it even deserves that) and then begin to make my deals from there. Never allow the TGP's to dictate the price you will pay for a coin. No coin is worth any more than someone is willing to pay for it. And if the dealer won't move on the price, walk away. Also, on auctions, I never pay full retail value and only use the Greysheet when buying. I may have to look at 600 coins to find that one that is worth the price / grade. If I miss a coin today there will be 20 more tomorrow in the common MS grades. Proofs are a different story as are rare dates. quote: Originally posted by Silver Dollar
