My friend thinks the best advice has already been given in this thread. Good luck with them.

Thanks for the photos! A fantastic piece of Canadian history! You could also send your list of notes to the curator of the Canadian National Currency Museum, to see what their comments are on the scarcity of some of those notes.

Thanks again for all the advice. I will get in touch with the Canadian National Currency Museum and see what they know about them. I think I'd like to get one or two framed as they look nice and are interesting pieces of history and also relate to my family. However it would also be nice for them to be appreciated by others in a museum or private collection. Its also difficult to ignore their possible monetary value were I to sell them. I guess the more I find out the better :)

Being a direct desendant of Henry Hudson, I have always wanted a hudsons bay note. While working in an old building downtown I actually found some HBC coins. I didn't know what they were at the time as they just looked like planchets with HBC and a number on it so I gave them to the boss-man at the time and they will be going into the buildings display case when it is fully renovated.

That's a great story Imohtep, it must have been a nice surprise to find out what they actually were! It's nice that they are going somewhere where people will see them.

I've never seen any of those before, absolutely beautiful pieces of history there.
All the best to you in your auctions, whoever manages to get them will be extremely happy.

There are a number of very similar lots being offered in the current Torex auction. http://www.torex.net. Estimates range from $600 to $3000 per item!

I recall a thread a while back which dealt with unidentified tokens from the Hudson's Bay Company. Take a read, it may offer you a place to start with research: https://goccf.com/t/59080I agree with SPP-Ottawa; the National Currency Museum would be a really good place to get info.

Nice images. A piece of Canadian history that most of us would otherwise never get to see. Thanks for sharing!!
