It was from a jeweler friend of mine. Long story short, one day I walked into his shop to see if he had any silver eagle and after 30 minutes of talking to him I was in the back room relaxing with him. I've been buying from him every few weeks. Sometimes I'll get some common date morgans, other times some silver eagles or even foreign silver. He said he had a good deal for me and it would have been if the darn coin were real! The real thing that stinks is that I bought it as part of a deal. He tossed in a lot of old rolls of pennies for an inflated price. I might be able to squeak to even on the pennies if I unload them one by one and take the time to sort them, but I was really counting on the Trade dollar to keep me ahead. Live and learn. If he was a friend of mine and after he found out the coin was fake, if he didn't return my money he wouldn't remain my friend.

Take it back...If he's a worthy dealer, he will accept it back rather than be thought of as someone how passes the buck and oh well.. it will cost him your future buisness...thats not worth $50 bucks...TAKE IT BACK...and show him, he should make it right..

He has a business to run and it would be in his best interest to make good on this coin. Not taking it back will do him more damage than the money he is out if he can't take it back to the person he bought it from. A good reputation in the coin business is invaluable and if lost is extremely hard to impossible to regain. Ed ANA LM-3175 |

Well, he is not a coin dealer, he is a small community jeweler who runs across a number of coins due to people bringing things in. If he doesn't then I won't buy anything from him anymore.

So I went back today. I'm not going back to this guy. Originally he offered me the coin for $50. I accepted the deal. He then wanted to sell me a group of other coins for $200 and I didn't want them. However, I told him I'd buy the coins for $200 if he tossed in a some bullion for $1 under spot. He agreed and that was the deal we made.
Basically because I bought a bunch at a time he said that I didn't have $50 in the coin and he gave me $25 credit.
As far as I'm concerned blankity blank blank blank

that sucks--stay away from the jewelers for coins would be a good idea

It turns out the lady I bought it from owns a jewelery store. Jewelers tend to think that coins are like jewelery and try to make them nice and shiny. |

Well, I was getting some good deals from him regarding silver bullion and he had some other coins. Overall I came out ahead dealing with him, but I just don't like the way this went down. I may stray back into his shop, but it won't be for a long time. I think I bought all of his good stuff anyway!

The USSS could care less about little fish like that store owner and wouldn't care that he took this guy for $25. If it was $25,000 they might take an interest though.
