It's from an alternate universe where America never gained its independence and we still had George VI as our king in 1945?

Can't be a mule if the one side is silver and the other side is copper and from two different Countries. An altered coin.

Well of course. That's the hybrid Walking King 50 Cents-Pence silver/copper coin. Minted a few in 1944/1945 just in case the USA / UK lost WWII and became one country. It was a strange time in history.

I did just find one of those huge pennies in a roll of halves. The size match is a remarkable coincidence.

Of course this coin was the test piece precursor to the Kennedy silver clad copper half. Every once in a while HK Replica in China puts a few of these on the auction block.

More than likely it is a "magicians" coin. I have seen similar coins that have been hallowed out and another denominational coin made to fit in the space that had been milled out.

I see they hollowed out the silver. Kind of a waste. Not a bad job overall though. If that is/was a genuine walker half what would be the denom. of the GB coin ? Looks too small for a one penny.
