The holder has a 50's look to it to my untrained eye. Leads me to believe it MAY be the real deal.

This is something I wont take chances with if I don't have the actual coins in hand.

I actually saw one of those 1909 six coin sets many years ago. I don't remember when but I think it was in the late 1960's or early 1970's. It was at an antique shop and at the time it was priced way too high for a young teenager. Don't know who made them but it's vaguely familiar. As others have said, I'd be very suspicious to buy something like this on ebay. It's something I would want to inspect in person, especially from someone without feedback. For what it's worth, I already have three of the coins so I'm half-way there.

Quote: Based on the provided photo, I have no doubt that it is genuine. Based on the provided photo I think it looks more like an "artists rendition" than a photo. (This relates to the 42/1 dime)

Bjones,
If you paid with a credit card through Paypal, wouldn't the credit card be able to protect you even if Paypal had trouble getting the funds back (if the guy closed out his account or something like that)? That's why I've so far refused to link up my checking account to Paypal. When you pay out of your checking account you only have one layer of protection, with a credit card card you should have two.

1) You gotta wonder about someone who didn't even bother putting the coins in straight. 2) 0 feedback 3) You could lose over $2000, regardless of ebay assurances.

Way to risky for me. Can't even tell if the 09-S VDB is genuine or not.

I don't have enough knowledge to comment on the Lincolns, but the IHCs have me skeptical of their color. Then, when I look closer at the 09-S IHC mintmark, I don't like what I see--the diagonal stroke of the "S" seems to straddle too far right, and at an angle. And people are dropping $2K+? Good luck--and good night.

Don't look for ebay to be any help, I reported an Item my son bid on and won. The seller had 0 feed back and the two other people bidding on it pushing the price up from $50 to $250 had 0 feed back. So I reported it as Shill Bidding, It turned into a nightmare from hell. I had an unpaid item complaint filled against me, even though I followed Rep's directions. Many calls later and a bunch of emails then a report, I finally got it off. But not with out loosing all of the respect I had for them. They have no idea what their doing. How can you penalize someone for following directions. Ohh and right at the end I was told to pay for the item, and if it doesn't show up to file a claim. I said are you kidding me? An endless explanation later I was told not to do anything yet, I said "OOHH Reeally, Now what were you saying about the unpaid item complaint." And they still screwed me. What a joke. I'd steer clear of this one, Unless you got it like that, cause even if you do get your money back, I'm sure it would take over a month. Thats even if you do get it back. Buying it with a CC is a very smart choice if you must though. I wish ya the best of luck.

if it seems too good to be true.....
$3700? I'd be curious to check that seller in a month and see if the transaction got a positive feedback.

$3700--for essentially sight-unseen keys--without returns? People are mad...

I'm willing to take a chance on an auction on a $20 coin, but $3700? Way too big a gamble for me!

Quote: scubu, Paypal won't protect you if you buy the pennys and send the guy money and he then withdraws the money from his Paypal account. Even if you win a Paypal dispute, they have to remove the funds from the guys Paypal account and if the money ain't there, you won't get anything back. I can confirm this from fist hand experience. Paypal will only refund you if there are funds in the sellers account to cover the refund. I have been hit twice in the last few years Paypal's protection is only valid if they are not out of pocket.
