So according to Poboxw's graph, if the US gov should get its act together and lower the debt, gold would see a similar decline? I'd like to see that chart expanded to the 1990's to see if there was a correlation back then when we had a budget surplus.

Except when you are going 85 on I-5 way North of the Grapevine, in a red sports car. Then CHP are all over that.

Oh, you were talking about real police officers. CHP is only there to write tickets, they do nothing to fight real crime. They are just traffic officers.

My Brother-in-law is a San Jose Police Officer (ie..real cop). He has so many jokes about CHP.

Of course they are! Why, a good car chase is almost as much fun as doing the horizontal hula!

Well after watching that compelling video, I quickly sold all my gold to APMEX then I reinvested it into many cases of high end darts with some nice cork dartboards too.

Now I know my investment of darts will be backed by something instead of that silly gold!

Gold is backed by my personal belief that it will mean as much to others as it does to me. Frankly if you offered me $1M in greenbacks or gold I'm taking the gold.

Countries can die along with their currency, gold just seams to hang around and holds some value no matter what happens.

What was their gripe, blocking traffic? We averaged 85mph in a van on the NY/NJ turnpike for three hours. A black sports car behind us flashed, blew his horn, and within 5 seconds, was out of sight.

Then there were the two off-duty cops who got picked up doing 150mph on the outerbelt in Columbus, on motorcycles. They got a slap on the wrist, and would've gotten off scott free if the media didn't pick up the story.

Never understood the logic that says it makes sense to have two cars, one doing 130, to catch one car doing 100. They've got the guy's license plate in most cases, eventually he goes home or stops for gas. Cops like to drive fast, too.

It's fun, too. One time I got to drive 70 on High Street in OSU district. Got passed by two cruisers, one on either side. Caught the drunk, tho!

Right. Hopefully BEFORE he kills someone.

Which is safer, one idiot diving fast, or one idiot driving faster to escape another idiot who is chasing him?

It all comes down to the circumstances. Yes, the criminal may go home but if he or she is smart they have a stolen license plate on their car. Then the cops end up breaking down the door of some old lady. On the other hand, if traffic is really bad, and the perp and cops are weaving through traffic like they are slalom skiing it may be best to let the perp go.

Back to the original topic. News anchors get paid to read what is on their teleprompter. If you don't like what they say, take it up with the person that wrote the script.

Wanna see whether you're more loved by your wife or your dog? Put each in a car trunk for three hours and see who's glad to see you when you open the trunk.

Wanna see which is a better store of value, gold or fiat money? Put equal values in a lock box for 30 years and see what they'll buy when you take them out.

It's tricky, Fredd, but I think that most of the people on here can figure this one out.
