Oh my goodness, I think I was looking at the other detecting forum metalman. There's a goodly number of post here. Oh...

Hi,

I told metalman that I was backing away from detecting for a while and well not in exact word but becoming a coin potato. But my bother stopped over yesterday to go detecting and provoked me into going. He said was better at it than me.

We headed into the mountains. Who ever thought in January we'd be detecting in the mountains of New England? Brother 1 and I picked up brother 2 and we were in the woods in no time. Brother 2 hit a six holer but only retrieving three of them. These were two Conn. copper and another we could ID. He worked the area for a while longer before abandoning it. So I moved in to where he was and pulled up 3 more coins out of the same hole. Looks like a Geo. II and Geo. II coppers, and the other was converted to a toy "wizzer". ( Here's My digs (Image: W/Mass-Digs 01_07_07_conway.jpg
58.51 KB ) Everything was worn away from it. Actually nothing came up great except the lead. We moved onto another spot where brother 2 found another coin, a Mass. copper. This place didn't reveal much more so we moved over to another place where again brother 2 hit a little hot spot.

I like to stay away from other by not invading their territories. I've always practiced this. Brother 2 asked me to check a target to see where it was and if it was worth digging. I told him it was good and keep digging. He dug for a while and couldn't locate the detected relic, so he called out to brother 1. Brother 1 told him it was big, and covered a large area. He also told brother 2 it was junk. Brother 2 conceeded to brother ones opinion and moved one. Brother 1 stay in brother 2's spot and the next thing I here is coin.

I turned to brother 1 and said I thought you told 2 that it was junk. That was there. I looked and it was a couple inches away. Again I heard button. I turned to 1 and said you told him it was junk over there, that's not right. The reason it was big and large to you is because of all the little relics laying there. He handed the button over to 2 but kept the Conn. copper 2 had actually found and let 2 recover the other two buttons that lay hidden underneath.

That's it. We still had fun.

Nice finds Jim. If I were finding coppers like that it would be hard for me to put my detector up. Heck I understand though the ground is frozen here in Virginia so I have not been out detecting in a while. BenVA
