"The son of a grocer, I was born on this day (17 January old style) in the mid-nineteenth century. I began writing as a means of supporting my family while I also studied to become a doctor. I am remembered for four dramatic masterpieces, hundreds of short-stories and many letters.

This is a coin being released by the Perth Mint, but I don't have a clue who it's supposed to be?
Silly riddle, anyone know who the coin is supposed to be of.
