Mexican Coins Question - Coin Community Forum

John1 Moderator United States 56855 Posts	Posted 01/26/2012 12:48 pm My sister just got back from a day trip to Mexico and brought me back some coins. One is a $5 coin with two different dates,2010 on the outer ring that looks doubled on the zeros (why did they do that)and the center is dated 2009. Is this normal? . Here is a list of the others, do any of them have any collector value: $5=2006,$2=2005 & 2010,$1=1997 & 2001 & 2007 & 2010. Thank you for the help. John1 Report this Post to the Staff

svslav Pillar of the Community United States 2605 Posts	Posted 01/26/2012 1:13 pm I believe the coin was issued in 2009 but the occasion it commemorates is the centenary of Mexican revolution which happened in 2010. It happens quite a bit with Olympic coins when the coins struck a year or two earlier than the games. About the "doubling" of zeros, looks like it's just the style. Report this Post to the Staff
