there is a piece of the ear missing on this 1959 Lincoln Cent.
any one know what causes this? thanks for the help.

I don't see anything beyond a normal coin.

if you look at the ear there is a piece of coin missing in front of earlobe.

Can't tell from the pic - it's too far away to see that kind of detail.

If the metal is missing it's probably damage.

If there is metak standing out from normal it would be a die crack.

Either way it's not something that would be worth much if any premium value.
