I'm no expert but the 1982's were mostly copper and only 5% zinc.
Can you weigh it to see if it is a copper cent or a zincoln?
I haven't seen zinc zits on copper cents... but I'm still pretty much a newbie.

Buddy; 1982 was the year the mint switched from copper to zinc, they also had large and small dates, resulting in 7 varieties. There were no small date copper from Denver.

Flip it in the air. If it's copper, it rings. If it's zinc, it doesn't. 1982's can be either copper or zinc. That definitely looks like zinc rot to me though.

Are there any on the reverse? I don't think I have seen a cent with only one large bubble...but I suppose there has to be a first zinc rot bubble somewhere...

The coin shown is a large date. You need to weight it so you know if it's copper or zinc. John1

I think so. It's just a bubble. You could probably pop it. or.... ebay $500 Major rarity.

If you want to, take a tooth pick and press on the bubble, if it dents it is a gas bubble. John1

Thanks, DrDon -- I thought it was 1983. Kman Sorry that my post dragged the thread off into the wrong direction. (just when I think I know something ) But you do have the biggest, singular zinc zit I have ever seen!

Am I the only one who doesn't have a clue what "rought" is supposed to mean?
When you're typing posts, look for the words that have a little wavy line beneath them. This means your 'word' isn't a word. Consider using a different word, especially when it's the subject of the question.

Mr.Daughtrey:
i just typed a random set of letters into the subject line and got no wavy line.I guess the spell checker doesn't work on the subject line.

Rought is the past tense of "Reach" in some British dialects... Soo....the title asks: " IS [sic] this zinc bubble "reached"?
