Being pretty much new to this world, I am wondering what are the price fluctuations of popular coins like the ladybug in 2011, the birds in 2010-

Did they start strong like the current bee, titanic, dinosaur in pre-order stage? dropped when widely available? and then come back up afterward?

What is the price curve of let say the ladybug? $140-?-?-?-$300-$500

Its all about supply and demand.... at the beginning when not a lot is on the market there's gonna to be a premium on it.... after awhile when everyone is listing it the price drops.... once those are all bought up and there is not as many available the price goes up (assuming the demand is still there).

The lady bug sold out very quickly, and it's price went straight up as I recall. It also has gained again recently with the issue of the bee - second coin in the series.

Many first of the series coin tend to increase over time as collectors get the second, third, eight, ninth of a series and want the first issue that they missed - see the birds of Canada series. The 2007 Nuthatch with a relatively low mintage and being the first in the series in the king. This is a common trend where low mintage of the first of a series translates into strong second market prices.

That said, I don't recall very many coins in the past that have taken off like the 50 cent titanic or the 2012 Dino. It is likely that their prices will dip a bit as they are issued to collectors and resellers but I suspect that will be a temporary supply effect and in the long term, they will be strong - especially the 1st of the series Dino.

Of course this is all just my opinion. I'm sure others have their views too.
