OK I am new to Morgans but I would say
96 VG
21 fine
regardless of the grades these are great coins
Ya gotta love a fat lump of silver in hand with a classic design, makes you feel great to have at least one of these

Thanks trout! Me too--def not the Morgan expert at all, I have a tough time not seeing the coin for more than its toning.

An example of this is... Look at the 21, to me I agree I think it looks fine or lower LOL but then I see the definition in the breast feathers and think... "wait a minute"

I think the 1896-O could grade VF-35, and the 1921 may grade around EF-40 details. Something about the surfaces doesn't look quite right.

Weight should be 26.73g with a tolerance of 0.097g. Diameter should be 38.1mm. I think both coins are genuine just that the 1921 may have had its surfaces altered.

I agree with Moe on the grades. That '21 might have been recovered by a Honey Dipper! Have you noticed an odor?

I don't think that's far off weight, I assume you've done a magnet test?
