Mostly I search pennies. When I do this I try to lay them out on a big table and hover over them with my little eyeglass. Before I start to look I flip them heads up to check them. Have there been any key finds I'm missing out on. Like a 2010 with a 2009 backside etc?

Might as well check both sides. Irregardless of the year, you'll most likely end up finding the random die clash or Grease Filled Die.... |

I usually dont, although I bet I've missed some a few cool Cuds or errors |

If you don''t check the reverse side, you'll never find a Wide AM (type 2 proof hub) 1998 - 2000, the WAM 1993 or CAM for 1992, etc... I'm sure others can post many other reverse varieties... |

Whatever error or variety you can find on the obverse you could also find on the reverse. John1  |

I unfurl a roll in my hand and check each penny one at a time, both sides. If I don't find anything interesting they go in their appropriate bucket. Plain old Zincolns go back to the bank.

If you aren't checking both sides, you're throwing away half your keepers. You could, for instance, miss a huge reverse Cud, like this one that nickelsearcher found:  Or this one from chuckster_125:  |

Yep. Don't forget that there are major DDRs out there. The 1983 DDR is a huge one that people still find occasionally. And a forum member right here discovered a major 1982 small date zinc DDR (there are currently two known to my knowledge). |
