I received a $100 note with a *Star next to the serial number. (AL00272768*) There is a fold in the center of the note. I know absolutely NOTHING about paper currency beyond that it spends....

Are these notes uncommon? Is there any premium value attached? Etc...

Thanks!

It comes from a run of 2.56 million, which is pretty large, so no premium is likely.

Too bad on the fold in it. It must be a series 1996. Pretty old note to find.

I don't know if I would keep it or not. It depends on how bad the fold is and how nice the note looks. It is a lot of money to tie up, if the value doesn't increase above face value, over the long run.

Are you going to keep it?
