This coin recently arrived from a seller in Australia. I have wanted one for a long time, but they are basically impossible to find from USA sellers.

This comes from the 1998 Masterpieces in Silver -- Coins of the 20th Century - Milestones set. The full set consists of 8 pieces with denominations of 20 cents, and a 9th piece with denomination of 50 cents. They were minted in 99.9% silver, and released with a limited mintage of only 15,000 complete sets. I purchased just this coin from a seller on ebay who sells the individual coins from the sets.

The reverse is struck from a modified die used to produce the 1934-35 Victoria/Melbourne Centenary Florin. A beautiful original florin is difficult to find in MS condition for less than $1000. This one will have to be my example of the design until I can get my hands on the original florin (one of my dream coins!)

I forgot how easy it is to image raw coins instead of coins behind plastic. This one is beautifully frosted on the devices, with fields as jet black as they come. I intend to eventually send this coin to NGC for encapsulation for safe keeping as a part of my horse-themed collection.
